The restaurant is a place where you can disconnect from the promenade and enjoy the peaceful and pleasant atmosphere of the restaurant.
Knjaževa Bašta represents a real little journey through history.
The building in which the restaurant Knjaževa Bašta is located is one of the better preserved monuments of Bar. This building is part of the complex built by King Nicholas in the second half of the 19th century, it was built a little later than the complex and was modeled after some of the European ones and was most likely a gift from the Italian royal family.
The castle of King Nikola, with its specific structure, stands out from the rest of the architecture of Bar and is therefore unique in this area. The architect of the palace complex is Josip Slade, who in that period designed many buildings throughout Montenegro. The palace complex as well as the garden were built on the most beautiful part of the Bar coast called Topolica. Today, the palace complex is a representative cultural and historical monument that speaks of part of Bar´s past and the royal family. Today, the local museum of the city of Bar is located in the Castle of King Nikola, and Knjaževa Bašta has been renovated for several decades for the needs of representative catering establishments.
